What sort of therapist are you?

I am a trained psychodynamic counsellor, which means my main theoretical orientation is based of the works of Freud, Klein, Winnicott and Bowlby. I do draw inspiration from other models, especially Assagioli's work on psychosynthesis and transpersonal development.

Is what I say confidential?

What is said in a counselling session is kept confidential, and any notes that are taken are kept securely, to comply with the Data Protection Act. To make sure that I am working ethically I do have supervision, where I discuss my work anonymously.

How long will long term/ongoing counselling take?

If we decide to work on a long term or ongoing basis, we can do this for as long as you feel you would like to come. If you are thinking of leaving at anytime we can discuss this within your therapy and work towards an ending. If ongoing work is not right for you we can discuss working short term instead.

Why choose private counselling?

Some types of psychological help are provided free at the point of need for some clients with specific issues. Most counselling in this context, if you are able to access it, is time limited, and you may not be able to choose the type of counselling you want at a time and place that suits you. It can also provide a high level of confidentiality where your attendance does not form part of your work, school or health record. With 1 in 4 people experiencing a mental health problem at some point in their lives private counselling practioners such as myself, make a valuable contribution to the prevention and intervention in psychological distress such as bereavement, self harm, addiction, anxiety and depression.


Is meditation religious?

Although meditation can be a spiritual experience and we sometimes use spiritual terminology like higher-self, spirit and connectedness; classes and one to ones at Infinite Dimensions are not aligned to any particular faith and are inclusive of everyone's beliefs.


What should I bring with me to a yoga class?

You will need to bring a yoga mat and blanket. Some people additionally bring blocks or zafus (Small round cushions) for sitting postures.

What should I wear?

Loose comfortable clothing, yoga sportswear or leggings/tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt/vest top.

Can I come to your class and do yoga with my health condition?

We are all individual and so are our health complaints, there are many conditions which can benefit from yoga but a group class is not always suitable. So please get in touch if you are unsure if yoga is suitable for you. Your GP or consultant can also give you advice on the best type of movement and exercise for you.

Will I be flexible/strong enough to do yoga?

There is no requirement to be strong or flexible, this yoga practice meets you where you are whatever your ability and moves you forwards. As your yoga journey progresses you will find you will naturally become more flexible and strong.


Can Reiki be used to treat illness?

Whilst Reiki helps you to relax and encourages healing and mental wellbeing, it is important you see your doctor for any illlnesses that need medical treatment. Reiki can safely be used alongside conventional treatments for disease.

What happens in a Reiki Session?

You either sit in a chair or lie on a couch, resting with your eyes closed. The Reiki Practitioner will then connect with the Reiki and channel it through to you. This may involve light touches on your head, tummy, arms and legs. Practitioners can work off your body if you would prefer holding their hands above your Chakras instead of touching them.

Will I feel anything?

Some people may feel sensations of heat or cold, energy, vibrations, or see colours whilst their eyes are closed, others feel nothing at all, some Clients have even been known to fall asleep! Any of these is a normal and natural response to Reiki.
